Once upon a time, a little girl used to say to her parents, “I’m bored.” Her parents would tell her, “Read a book.” That little girl grew up to earn a bachelor’s degree in English, a Master of Library Services, and then
lived happily ever after as a librarian in public libraries, schools and preschools.

That little girl is me.

My very first favorite author was and still is Shel Silverstein. I’m not sure my life would be complete if it weren’t for Where the Sidewalk Ends. And my all-time favorite character is Winnie the Pooh. I never tire of Winnie the Pooh. His wisdom, kindness, curiosity, and gentle heart helped shape me into the person I am today.

I always enjoyed literature classes, and reading, but I didn’t truly fall in love until I read The Firm when I was in college. I started it and stayed up all night to finish it. It ignited a fire in me and opened up a whole wide world of wonder I could escape to, just by turning pages in a book.

All of this is how I’ve discovered my purpose and my passion: Library Unleashed. I truly do want all children to be able to Sit. Stay. And Storytime!

When I am not reading to myself or others, I love to take long walks with my dog (who may or may not be the adorable pup on our logo!), play tennis, and watch college football – Roll Tide! I am also in my third year of learning Spanish. It will be wonderful to be able to read stories in Spanish one day.
